I always tell my clients to register not just the .com but the full gambit of .net / .org / .info / .biz / .ca for the name their doing business as.
It sucks when someone else comes along and grabs the other extension from you, depending on what they want to do, they can impersonate you, trade on your name or just hold it hostage and sell it back to you when you finally give in.
